1.6 FTE Virtual School Educational Psychologists

Part-time and full time opportunities available

Announcing a rare opportunity for two enthusiastic, well-motivated Educational Psychologists to join our multi-disciplinary Northumberland Virtual School ESLAC (Education Support for Looked After Children) team to support the education of care experienced children and young people.

As a Virtual School, we are committed to the application of educational and psychological research to improve outcomes for looked after and previously looked after children. We seek to promote the use of inclusive, evidence-based practices to help children and young people overcome barriers to educational achievement, social and emotional well-being and mental health.

The post holder will provide an educational psychology service to children, teachers, education settings and care teams. This includes consultation, casework, therapeutic work, training and project work. We are leading on the implementation of trauma informed practice across the county and are trailblazing a system of EP consultation when children enter care.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an Educational Psychologist to work within a multi-disciplinary team. The needs of looked after children are varied but with common themes, meaning that the role offers breadth and depth of EP work. We can provide input towards Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments, but statutory work is not a key part of the role.

Passion and determination for supporting our most vulnerable children is an essential part of the role.

Applications are welcomed from fully qualified HCPC registered Educational Psychologists and from Trainee Educational Psychologists in the third year of their doctoral training.

The post holder will report to the Virtual School Lead EP.
