Education Welfare is based within the Virtual school and work to ensure that the Local Authority’s statutory duties and other responsibilities for safeguarding children in relation to school attendance, elective home education, children missing education, child employment and performance licensing are carried out to the highest possible standard.
Work is undertaken on behalf of children in partnership with their parents, schools, alternative providers and other professionals to enable each pupil the maximum opportunity to benefit from their educational entitlement. Work is also undertaken at a whole school level to support schools in their policy and practice towards improving attendance.
You should have a good general standard of education and preferably with a recognised professional qualification in social work, teaching, child care, nursing, youth and community or psychology. Experience of working in an education or social care setting and knowledge of current legislation is essential.
