This apprenticeship will last for a duration of 24 months. The training is delivered by Northumberland Skills and you will be required to attend training at Morpeth Leisure Centre, NE61 1SR.
What the candidate will be doing on a day-to-day basis
The nature of the administrative support will vary and will involve responding to written correspondence, handling telephone calls, generating travel permits and issuing letters outlining transport arrangements, maintaining records and updating databases. These are all tasks which help ensure appropriate travel arrangements are put in place for children and young people, including vulnerable passengers that qualify for transport assistance. There will be plenty of scope within the role for personal development for the right candidate.
Background on department
The Passenger Transport Team is located within the Environment & Transport Directorate. It comprises a team of 15 staff and are responsible for the planning, procurement, contract management and payment of passenger transport services, that are delivered through the use of taxi and bus operators. The type of passenger transport services provided include school transport, local bus services and community transport as well as social care transport.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is eager to learn and expand their knowledge and skills through hands-on experience.
Likes to work as part of a team, on a variety of tasks with short deadlines. To be able to work on their own where relevant.

Fixed Term for duration of apprenticeship training, plus 6 months for End Point Assessment.
REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB
Maths and English GCSE (or Equivalent) at Grade 4/C or above
Familiar with IT systems, eg. Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Available to attend County Hall Morpeth each working day
The primary purpose of the role is to provide general administrative support for the Passenger Transport Team that are responsible for the organisation of passenger transport services for a range of different clients, including children and young people, vulnerable passengers as well as users of local bus services.
