What the candidate will be doing on a day-to-day basis
The multi skilled maintenance operative apprenticeship is an exciting innovation in the repairs and maintenance industry and it allows the apprentice to gain some essential skills and knowledge to allow the qualified tradesperson to undertake a number of repairs, examples of which being, plumbing, joinery, plastering, and painting. The apprentice will be taught some of the basic skills in these trades to allow the council to flex its services to areas of high demand it will mean working alongside different qualified trade persons to gain knowledge in that area of industry. The apprentice will be taught safe use of battery and powered tools and equipment along with a comprehensive health and safety training programme.
Background on department
Housing repairs and maintenance provide a responsive and planned service to the councils 8,500 tenanted homes. The properties are located in many parts of our county and the various property types provide interesting challenges to our maintenance teams.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is eager to learn and expand their knowledge and skills through hands-on experience.

Fixed Term for duration of apprenticeship training, plus 6 months for End Point Assessment.
REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB
Maths and English GCSE (or Equivalent) at Grade 3/D or above
