Virtual School Learning Mentor: children with a social worker


This is an innovative new post for a dedicated professional who would enjoy working in a lively multi-disciplinary team to promote the education of children with a social worker. The new Virtual School Learning Mentor: children with a social worker post will be fixed term for 24 months term time only in the first instance.



We want a new colleague who is passionate about wanting to make a difference to the educational outcomes for children who need help and protection, and who is skilled at engaging children so that they are open to receiving support, safe in the knowledge that their voices will be heard.



You will be expected to develop the role to have maximum impact and ensure that the educational needs of this group of children are well understood by professionals in education and children’s social care. The role will involve developing resources, sharing good practice, and building strong relationships with children based on trust.


The post is based in the Virtual School group of services, in the Education Support for Looked After Children (ESLAC) team, and the post holder will work closely with the Virtual School Co-ordinator: children with a social worker.
