Northumberland County Council is recruiting for an enthusiastic, well-motivated Virtual School Guidance and Support Officer.  

Northumberland Virtual School has a talented and experienced team who are passionate about ensuring disadvantaged children and young people receive an education that meets their individual needs.  We work effectively with our partners to raise educational standards, promote inclusion, wellbeing and improve the life chances of care experienced young people.  

The successful candidate will contribute to fulfilling the extended duty for Virtual School Headteachers to promote the education of children with a social worker, previously cared for children and those in kinship care by providing educational information, advice and guidance to professionals and carers. The work will be undertaken on behalf of children in partnership with their parents, carers, social workers and education settings to give each pupil the best opportunity to benefit from their education. Supporting schools in their policy and practice to improve stability and outcomes for care experienced children and delivering training to professionals will be key parts of the role. 
 
The successful candidate will be an outstanding communicator, have a good general standard of education, experience of working in an education or social care setting and experience in removing barriers to education.
