We have a vacancy within our Home Improvement Service (HIS) that needs an experienced team manager to fill, someone with a commitment to lead a successful team to continue providing a high standard of service and adaptations to the residents of Northumberland.
We want someone who understands the value of a well-managed team for its ultimate success, someone with commitment to support people in their roles and to improving the lives of residents of Northumberland through enhancing their environments to maximise their abilities.
The HIS team is small overall with 14 members of staff working into two teams, Minor Works and Major, Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) funded, Adaptations teams each with their own very specific remit to provide beneficial supportive adaptations to those who need them.
You will have day to day responsibility for the team, managing all HR tasks for the team, supporting each member in their role, completing quality audits of the team’s work, liaising with contractors to maintain effective working relationships, referring professionals and colleagues both internally and external to the authority. The post holder will also work closely with the Senior Manager and Head of Service for service development and quality improvement.
The postholder will be based at Foundry House, The Oval, Bedlington, Northumberland NE22 5HS; as the service covers the whole of Northumberland there may be times when the postholder needs to travel anywhere in the county. There is also the opportunity to work from home when appropriate.
This is a full-time, permanent post.
Salary starts at £42,403 rising to £46,464 (Band 9)

We are looking for someone who is:
Educated to a degree or has an equivalent qualification/training/experience in a professional area relevant to the service area
Experienced in managing and leading people and Teams/Service successfully
An excellent communicator, someone who can effectively communicate to a wide range of service users, colleagues, and internal and external stakeholders across a wide range of subject areas that this service area covers.
Must have a valid drivers license and be willing to travel throughout the beautiful county of Northumberland as required.
