We are looking for a Strategic Business Manager to act as a trusted partner to senior leaders, helping drive transformation, resilience and performance across a major public service organisation.


About the role

In this highprofile role, you will work alongside Executive Directors and their Directorate Management Teams. You will provide strategic business management leadership in order to assist decisionmaking at the highest level. You will have exceptional communication and organisational skills as you will be required to connect people across various disciplines such as, finance, digital, procurement and governance to ensure priorities are aligned, resources are optimised, and services deliver real value for communities.

You will:

  • Shape and deliver directorate business strategies aligned to corporate priorities
  • Lead and influence crossfunctional transformation and improvement projects
  • Provide expert insight on governance, performance, risk and business continuity
  • Produce highquality reports and contribute to business cases to inform senior decisionmaking
  • Use data and insight to drive performance, innovation and value for money


About you

You will bring seniorlevel experience in strategic business management, ideally within local government or a large, complex organisation. You are comfortable operating at pace, influencing across boundaries, and turning complexity into clear strategic direction.

You are likely to have:

  • Significant experience in strategic or partnershipbased business management
  • A strong track record of working with enabling functions such as HR, Finance, IT and Procurement
  • Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, organisational and problemsolving skills
  • The confidence to influence senior stakeholders and lead through change
  • A datadriven mindset, with the ability to turn insight into action
