An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Northumberland Sensory Support Service as a permanent, 0.8fte Qualified Teacher of Visual Impairment (QTVI).
The successful candidates will work throughout the Northumberland area on a peripatetic basis.
You will work in a variety of different settings, including in the home.
The role will involve direct intervention teaching in a classroom, 1:1 or small group setting. The child centred practice advisory element of the role involves collaborative working with other relevant professionals.
The post will sit under the umbrella of the Low Incidence Needs Team. The Service work with children and young people whose ages range from 0-25.
The successful candidate will be a qualified teacher and will preferably have at least 3 years teaching experience. Applications are invited from qualified and experienced Teachers of Children and Young People with Vision Impairment (QTVI).
However, the mandatory qualification needed to become a qualified teacher of visual impairment could be funded by the local authority and must be taken up within the first 2 years of the post.

The ability to work both individually and as part of a team is essential.
Experience in working with students who have a visual impairment is desirable. The ability to travel across Northumberland is an essential part of the role.
We are offering:
· A permanent position; 0.8fte (4 days)
· Salary MPS/UPS per annum plus SEN 2 (when qualified)
