Job Information
We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our busy team, at the Joint Equipment Loan Services (JELS) in Northumberland.
The main purpose of the job is to ensure that community equipment and medical devices are delivered and collected efficiently and effectively and when returned to stores are decontaminated, cleaned, and maintained in line with manufacturers guidelines.
You will be required to drive Luton box vans to make deliveries of community equipment into client’s homes and into satellite stores held at various sites around the county. Similar vehicles are used for the collection of equipment no longer required by the individual. Therefore, a current driver’s licence is essential for this post.
The delivery and collecting of equipment are completed in line with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) manual handling guidelines.
You will be required to:
- De-contaminate
- Clean
- Refurbish
- and provide some basic mechanical/electrical servicing to community equipment/medical devices that has been collected and returned to the JELS stores. This involves following infection control procedures, cleaning regimes and manufacturers servicing schedules. All appropriate training, PPE equipment and tools will be provided.
You will be required to perform usual warehouse duties which includes:
- Loading and unloading vans
- Putting stock away
- Receiving deliveries of equipment from suppliers
- Following pick lists to pull out stock for van delivery runs
- Updating paperwork and computer systems.
The applicant will need to demonstrate a firm commitment to NCC values, ensuring clients, colleagues and professionals are dealt with in a respectful and compassionate manner.
As this post will involve some contact with vulnerable people you will be required to complete a disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

This position is permanent, full time, Band 4 (starting salary £22,369 - £24,054).
