Job Information
You will be working with children and young people, their families and our local schools across Northumberland to develop a programme of activities and training that will support and develop independence. You will support some of our SEND young people to achieve safe and independent travel in the community. This may mean delivering training to small groups of young people, or working 1-1 to support their confidence and creating individualised independent travel plans that allow them to travel to their education setting through a variety of means, including public transport, mainstream school transport, walking, cycling or other means.
You will have experience of working with young people, supporting children and/or adults with disabilities and understanding their needs. We want to hire you if you have a passion for person-centred support and can engage young people, their families and chools in creating opportunities for our young people to build skills that can support them throughout their lives.
These roles are part of an exciting pilot project, and are initially a fixed-term for one year. Though based at County Hall, we operate a flexible working environment, and would expect that you will be mainly working in our communities, schools, outdoors and potentially in family home settings dependent upon the task, owing to the nature of the job. The role is a Band 6, with a salary of £27, 344 - £30, 151.
· Knowledge and experience of Safeguarding in relation to Children and Vulnerable Adults, legislation and guidance relating to disability.
· NVQ L3 in Social Care or equivalent
· Valid UK driving licence and access to a car.
