Job Information
ROLE OF THE JOB
- Act as first line coordination to supervise, performance manage, instruct and direct the Northern Area Highways Inspectors and maintenance gangs.
- Assist in the delivery of major projects as part of the Highways Delivery team and deliver individual projects varying in value from a few hundred pounds to hundreds of thousands of pounds.
- Ensure that public liability claims are investigated and process relevant documents.
- Direct maintenance teams and other activities including Winter Services and Emergency responses and provide Out of Hours cover as necessary
- All other duties detailed in the job description
REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB
- Recent extensive experience in providing, organizing and supervising highway maintenance including Winter Maintenance in a large technical organization.
- Knowledge of the Highways Act 1980
- Knowledge of construction and commercial practices within the public sector
- Good communication skills and the ability to guide, advise and negotiate on technical highways related matters.
