THE SERVICE
Northumberland Skills offers residents a wide variety of full and part time courses, apprenticeships and employability advice and support. The services employability team deliver The DWP Better Working Futures Programme and Restart Scheme, and all programmes are part of NCC's wider response to help unemployed residents move back into and towards work.
ROLE OF THE JOB
The primary function of an Employment Adviser is to support unemployed jobseekers (our participants) to help them find and sustain employment. You will manage a caseload of participants providing them with employment support, alongside engaging with employers to find opportunities that will lead to sustainable employment. The service is looking to appoint individuals who can demonstrate experience in a similar or transferable role and your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Meeting with a high volume of participants, identifying any challenges and barriers with finding employment and creating an agreed action plan.
Offering appropriate Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) to jobseekers to address employment barriers, both, immediate and long term.
Liaising with employers and recruitment agencies to identify suitable and appropriate employment opportunities.
Providing your customers with a programme of support that will lead to sustained employment, informed by local labour market needs
Booking jobseekers on to any relevant training or health and wellbeing courses that will help them to move towards work, or gain new transferable skills
Supporting jobseekers with CV writing and the job application process
Supporting jobseekers on a face-to-face basis ensuring that you meet programme customer service standards and achieve performance KPI's.
Completion of compliant customer paperwork following programme guidance, using CRM systems to capture accurate jobseeker information.
You should possess a can-do attitude and have experience in achieving performance and quality assurance targets in a fast-paced, customer facing environment. It is expected that you will be able to manage your own workload effectively and be able to work autonomously and as part of a team, whilst being responsive and flexible to new demands.

Northumberland Skills delivers employment support to residents from 7 bases across Northumberland to meet business and contractual needs; therefore, you must be able to meet the transport requirements of the role.
