The Service

The Information Governance team is part of the Law and Corporate Governance Service. It is responsible for all aspects of information governance including UK GDPR/Data Protection, Confidentiality, Records Management, Freedom of Information & Environmental Information Regulation requests and Information Security. The team is led by the Information Governance Manager/Data Protection Officer. The team advises and provides tailored support across all Council services including a network of Link Officers, Information Asset Owners, the Caldicott Guardian and the Senior Information Risk Owner. The team helps implement best practice across the organisation to ensure NCC operates to high standards, including those required by the NHS Data Security & Protection Toolkit and wider legislative and corporate standards.


The Role

We are seeking to recruit a motivated and customer focused individual to join our Information Governance team.


The Data Protection and Information Governance Assistant will assist the Information Governance team to deliver an effective and efficient service to both internal and external customers, providing advice and support on Freedom of Information requests, Environmental Information Regulations requests and Data Protection compliance. They will help embed the information governance framework across Northumberland County Council, ensuring services are compliant with legislative requirements which includes providing appropriate training and support to help fulfil their obligations.

Experience of working to deadlines, prioritisation of workload, dealing with members of the public, good written and oral skills are key requirements of the post. It will also be responsible for regular reporting of trends, statistics and updates to Link Officers and Senior Managers.
