Do you have a passion or interest in baking? If so, you could be the perfect match for our Day Centre. We are currently looking for a Cook to join our team at the Pottergate Centre in Alnwick.
We are a welcoming Day Service for Adults with Learning Disabilities and have two kitchens at our Centre.
You don’t need to be a trained cook, as training will be provided, we just ask that you have a positive attitude, a willingness to learn from others and the ability to work well as part of a team. The role will be mainly based in our social enterprise ‘Pottergate Pantry’ so a willingness to learn our successful recipes is vital in the role, with some cover in our main kitchen expected to cover any absences.
Pottergate Pantry is our successful social enterprise where our Service Users, who have a range of learning disabilities, work alongside our Cooks and Care Workers to produce biscuits, cakes and traybakes which we sell to the public and local businesses. As well as our Pantry kitchen we also have our Main Kitchen where staff work with Service Users where they cook and prepare dinners for the Centre each day.
We are looking for someone who is adaptable with energy and enthusiasm. Training and support will be provided, you just need a positive attitude and to be able to work as part of a team. In return we can offer family friendly working hours, in the first instance this post will be for 16 hours over three days – Wednesday to Friday with working hours of 9:30am – 2:30pm.

- Salary: £23,500 – £23,893 FTE (£10,162 for 16 hours, £12.18 per hour)
- Contract type: Permanent / Part Time
· You must have a basic food hygiene certificate, or a willingness to complete this training (training will be provided).
· Previous experience of working in a kitchen would be an advantage.
· An interest in baking, and the ability to successfully follow recipes would be beneficial.
· You must be able to work alongside others as part of a team and be happy to work alongside and support Service Users in our kitchens.
