Northumberland County Council is looking for cleaners across in Alnwick to join their staff bank. These positions are for short-term, temporary assignments and one-off, ad-hoc shifts. Perfect for someone looking for flexible working.

Pay Rate: £12.26 per hour

Job Description: Cleaner

Various Shifts Available - Monday to Sunday (You Choose!)

As a Cleaner, you will ensure a pristine and hygienic environment in accordance with the specification for Building Cleaning Services and the Cleaning Operations Manual. Your responsibilities will include:

Job Brief

  • Performing general cleaning tasks as directed.
  • Emptying litter bins and removing rubbish.
  • Safely using cleaning equipment.
  • Opening and closing premises as necessary, ensuring the security of the building is not compromised.
  • Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety legislation and County Council policies, especially when using materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Managing stock, ordering cleaning materials, and assisting with the receipt and safe storage of goods.
  • Attending training sessions as required.
  • Covering other sites and duties appropriate to the nature, level, and grade of the post as needed.

No experience needed. 

Note: Designated areas may include schools, offices, social services establishments, or any other County Council or contracted establishment.

Northumberland County Council’s Staff Bank provides a pool of highly skilled temporary workers who are looking for a long-term placement, or who want to work flexibly within the council. If a team needs support due to sickness, common staff shortages, or general vacancies, they call upon registered bank members to fill available assignments. These can be filled via a long-term assignment for up to 12 months or on an ad hoc basis.

The Staff Bank is managed by the Temporary Staffing Team, who you can contact via temporarystaffing@northumberland.gov.uk. You will be subject to Northumberland County Council's pre-employment checking process which includes a minimum of 2 references covering the past 3 years, health clearance and proof of right to work in the UK and depending on the assignment you may be required to undertake a DBS check.
