Community Hub Support Assistants (Staff Bank)

Northumberland County Council’s Staff Bank is looking for skilled and flexible individuals to join our pool of Community Hub Assistants. These are temporary, ad-hoc roles, ideal for those who want to work flexibly or seek long-term assignments within the Council. Assignments may range from covering staff shortages due to sickness to longer-term placements (up to 12 months) based on the needs of our Community Hubs.

Position: Community Hub Assistant  
Location: Alnwick Community Hub - Lindisfarne Centre (potential to work across Northumberland)  
Pay: 12.26 per hour

About the Role:
As a Community Hub Assistant, you’ll help create a welcoming, user-focused environment at our Alnwick Hub and beyond. Your daily tasks may include:

- Setting up rooms for events and supporting community sessions

- Serving food and drinks in our café

- Assisting with bookings and maintaining a friendly environment for all hub users

- Providing basic digital and device support to visitors

- Carrying out light cleaning and safety tasks to keep the hub in great shape

What We’re Looking For:
We need people who are community-oriented, approachable, and ready to lend a hand wherever needed. If you have:
- A good general education, numeracy, and literacy skills
- Awareness of health and safety practices
- Basic food hygiene knowledge or certification (desirable but not essential)

The Staff Bank is managed by the Temporary Staffing Team, who you can contact via temporarystaffing@northumberland.gov.uk. You will be subject to Northumberland County Council's pre-employment checking process which includes a minimum of 2 references covering the past 3 years, health clearance and proof of right to work in the UK and depending on the assignment you may be required to undertake a DBS check.
