We are looking for a Care Worker to join our team at The Pottergate Centre, Alnwick.
Are you passionate about making a difference in people’s lives? The Pottergate Centre is looking for a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated Care Worker to join our friendly team supporting adults with learning disabilities and additional needs. We are open Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm, and pride ourselves on providing a vibrant, person-centred day service in the heart of Alnwick.
📍 The Pottergate Centre, Howling Lane, Alnwick, NE66 1DJ
💷 Salary: £25,584 – £27,269 FTE (pro rata)
📅 Permanent | Part-Time (30 hours per week)
About the Role:
You will play a key role in promoting the wellbeing, confidence and independence of our service users. This includes:
- Supporting daily activities based on individual needs and interests.
- Helping service users make the most of their local community.
- Providing personal care and administering medication (training provided).
- Supporting and delivering a fun, varied activity programme alongside the team.
- Acting as a keyworker, maintaining clear and professional records.
- Assisting with transport duties (driver or passenger assistant, as needed).
About the Pottergate Centre:

- Sports sessions (kurling, cricket, pickleball) at the local sports centre, working alongside Smile Through Sports.
- Rhythmstix drumming group, sensory sessions, FitSticks, gardening, arts and crafts, pamper sessions, creative design, music and more.
- Social events like discos, bingo, BBQs, and our exciting Christmas programme.
- Cooking and baking for our social enterprise, Pottergate Pantry.
We’re big on creativity and co-production. Each year, our service users help shape the direction of our service. Your own ideas and interests are welcomed - whether you love music, crafts, sport or something completely different, we’d love to hear how you could bring your energy to our centre.
What We’re Looking For:
- A good standard of education with strong literacy and numeracy skills.
- A positive, flexible attitude and genuine passion for supporting others.
- Ability to work as part of a team and build strong, respectful relationships.
- Willingness to complete relevant training and uphold care standards.
- A full driving licence is desirable, but not essential.
