Business Support Assistant

Northumberland County Council is seeking a highly organised and professional individual to provide clerical and administrative support within the Statutory Assessment and Review Team, contributing to the effective delivery of statutory Education, Health and Care (EHC) processes for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). 

The post holder will play a key role in ensuring that statutory assessments, reviews and plans are administered accurately, efficiently and within required timescales. Responsibilities include managing the SEN mailbox, responding to enquiries, processing referrals, maintaining accurate digital records, supporting document and information management, and ensuring the smooth operation of post and workflow systems. The role also involves monitoring deadlines, supporting financial administration, and upholding safeguarding, confidentiality and data‑protection standards. 

Applicants should demonstrate strong organisational and time‑management skills, excellent written and verbal communication, and proficiency in digital record‑keeping and Microsoft Office applications. The ability to work with accuracy, handle sensitive information, manage competing priorities and maintain a professional, customer‑focused approach is essential. Candidates must be able to work both independently and collaboratively within a busy team environment.
