Business Growth & Investment Programme Manager

ROLE OF THE JOB

Working alongside our colleagues in the wider Economic Growth team, you’ll act as a key delivery officer in respect of activities to promote Northumberland as a destination for investment & business growth (through activities such as events, exhibitions, promotional activities and account management).

You will focus on the delivery of high profile, high value, and high-quality inward investment projects and initiatives to ensure that Northumberland maximises opportunities and outcomes associated with inward investment. You will generate and manage a high-quality pipeline of inward investment prospects from large to micro businesses. Seeking to attract major and high-profile companies in our target sectors. 

Designated as a flexible worker type, you will attend meetings & events to build effective relationships with partners and stakeholders; you’ll work with developers, commercial agents, internal colleagues and more to land new investment into the county. You will oversee a CRM system to handle enquiries, maintain communication and maximise engagement and opportunities to achieve tangible outcomes resulting in increased investment, more businesses, more jobs and an improved local economy.

You will also play an act part in helping promote Northumberland by utilising social media especially Linked In. 

This is a Maternity cover contract until the end of August 2025.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB
  • Advanced IT skills and able to effectively use IT to achieve work objectives.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to react quickly and handle a diverse and complex portfolio of projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to relate effectively to and command respect, trust and confidence of internal colleagues and Senior Managers, officers within external funding agencies, project applicants, Council members and other stakeholders.
  • Well-developed networking, partnership and support skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and an aptitude for developing solutions to problems.
  • Advanced written skills
  • Negotiation skills and able to persuade others to an alternative point of view.
  • Highly motivated induvial.
