The Service
· Kyloe House is a secure children’s home based near Morpeth in Northumberland.
· Kyloe House is a welfare home designed to support young people placed under Section 25 of the Children’s Act.
· The home has beds for 14 young people and is licensed by Ofsted with staff employed by Northumberland County Council.
· Young people stay in Kyloe House for differing periods of time ranging from days to several months.
· We have an onsite school at Kyloe House with five classrooms, sports hall, cardio room, music studio, beauty salon, fully equipped DT workshop and catering kitchen. The education team deliver bespoke packages for the young people in line with a trauma informed approach.
· Class sizes have a maximum of four young people supported by a teacher and a Behaviour Support Assistant.
· The school day consists of seven lessons, each lasting forty minutes, running from 09:15 to 16:00hrs. Early shifts begin at 08:00hrs, and late shifts finish at 16:50hrs, providing support for any lost learning.
· We run in line with Northumberland County Council’s term times with the exception that we work the two middle weeks of the summer holidays and then take the two weeks’ leave at set intervals throughout the year.
The role
As we strengthen our core support team we are looking to appoint a dedicated and caring Behaviour Support Officer. We are looking for an individual who can advance young peoples’ learning in a range of classroom settings, including working with individual pupils or groups and whole classes where the assigned teacher is not present. In liaison with the class teacher, activities will involve planning, preparing and supporting in lessons as well as monitoring pupils, assessing, recording and reporting on pupils’ achievement, progress and development.
You will need to be highly motivated to the care and outcomes for young people and have experience of working with young people to support their learning. We are offering:
