ROLE OF THE JOB 

 

Tourist Information Centre Assistant   

  

This role is based at Morpeth Chantry, Morpeth.  You will be working with and supporting a small team of Tourist Information Centre staff.   

  

This is a 20 hour fixed term contract until 31 March 2025 and is open to job sharing.    

  

rota will be agreed in advance and the hours will be Monday to Saturday.  Half days are available and Saturday rota. Hours may vary from week to week.    

  

Lone working conditions may apply.   

   

We are looking for an individual to join an already exciting team.  Flexibility is required in the role due to rota requirements.  A friendly and efficient manner with a positive image for the service.  Motivated, good timekeeper and open and respectful of others are some of the qualities we are looking for. 

Daily duties:  

 

  • Liaise with customers regarding tourism enquiries - answering phones, assisting visitors, taking messages and answering all enquiries on a wide range of TIC matters.    

  • Counter work in the Craft Centre, promoting the sale of suppliers' goods and operating the till.    

  • Carry out cash reconciliation and banking procedures as required 

  • Carry out general administrative work to support the running of the building, both the TIC and the Craft Centre.    

  • Maintain appropriate records of work to ensure service standards are maintained, adhering to data protection and confidentiality rules and procedures.    

  • Build relationships with colleagues and external contacts to promote effective partnership arrangements for the delivery of high quality services. 

REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB 

  • Good general education with good literacy and numeracy skills, including GCSE Maths and English to grade C or above or equivalent.  

  • Recent experience in a retail or similar customer facing environment  

  • Experience of word processing, spreadsheets and database systems  

  • Excellent customer service skills
