ROLE OF THE JOB

Northumberland County Council are developing a New Team within Housing Operations, looking for a Tenancy Support Officer(s) who can commit to working in a way that demonstrates Respect, Teamwork and Empathy and support. We are looking for confident individuals with exceptional verbal communications and negotiations skills.

This Team is being set up to ensure that our most vulnerable tenants receive support which will be developed to their individual needs this will be achieved by means of putting a support plan in place and making referrals to various relevant agencies, ensuring the individual is able to sustain their tenancy.

This New Team will be an integral part of the Housing service taking referrals from other teams within Housing Operations, if you Have you an appetite for working collaboratively with colleagues to problem, solve and work as part of a new team. We are looking for someone with a working knowledge of safeguarding adults and children and experience working with vulnerable and complex tenants/customers.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team at inception and contribute toward the development of the Service.

The Tenancy Support Officers role will be

· Taking the lead role in the assessment of incoming referrals

· Working with individuals in a focused way enables tenants to maximize their independence and live to their full potential.

· This role will identify vulnerable applicants/tenants at the early stage of their housing application or tenancy commencement.

· To work alongside vulnerable individuals in promoting independence and empowering sustainment of their tenancy

· To complete a support plan with each tenant detailing all elements of support required for their tenancy to be maintained – including any signposting required. This must be reviewed regularly.

· To work alongside an individual in understanding how best to provide support through a thorough risk assessment process to highlight any risk to themselves, their tenancy, or others – this must be reviewed on a regular basis

· To provide information, advice, and guidance to enable tenants to understand their responsibilities and support them to develop effective strategies to manage those responsibilities.

· To work closely with other professionals where appropriate to provide a comprehensive approach to sustaining the tenancy including coordinating professionals’ meetings when necessary and attending external meetings in relation to their support needs.

· To liaise internally with all other departments to enable the successful cycle of tenancy related support and to help maintain the tenancy. · To work closely with an individual in understanding acceptable behaviour and being a good Neighbour so that their tenancy is maintained in the longer term.

You will be office based at Compass House, Blyth, Northumberland, NE24 2BE.

 

REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB

Good standard of education to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent

Experience within housing and or support sectors

An understanding of Safeguarding

Full Valid UK driving license.
