Technical Support Officer - Building Control

ROLE OF THE JOB

The primary purpose of the post is to provide technical support, working within the building control team of tech support and surveyors based around the county. Duties include liaison with other services and being the first line of contact for members of the public, architects and builders. The post is responsible for all financial transactions, maintenance of IT systems and full provision of the street naming and numbering service. The team consists of 3 Technical Support Officers and 10 Building Control Surveyors.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:

  • The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated and organised, normally working alone although this will depend on location.
  • They need to be able to work with minimal supervision and be conversant with building practice and be IT literate.
  • Good communication is important and the ability to remain calm under pressure is essential when dealing with service users. 
  • The type of person we are looking for is someone who is a quick learner, who is conscientious and able to work without a great deal of supervision. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of building is necessary. 
Contract type - Part Time (18.5 hours per week), Permanent
