Public Protection's Pollution Control Team is currently seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, highly motivated Technical Officer. The Team is based in West Hartford Community Fire Station, Cramlington, Northumberland, NE23 3JP and sits within the Council’s Public Health and Stronger Communities function. 
 
With 14 officers, the Pollution Control Team's areas of responsibilities include, noise and nuisance investigations, assessment of air quality, identification and remediation of contaminated land, permitting of industrial sites and regulation of private water supplies.  Reporting to a Senior Environmental Health Officer, the successful applicant will be responsible for case management of a varied workload including inspections, monitoring, investigations, data analysis and enforcement.
 
The successful candidate should ideally have both a substantial knowledge of and interest in pollution control and a good practical use of information technology. An understanding of associated legal processes and enforcement is desirable. You will need to be an excellent team player and possess competency in organising and dealing with complex routine and proactive casework. However, applications would be considered from individuals who are looking to develop a career in this area and have previous experience in the sector.

Requirements of the job:
  • The successful candidate will possess a broad knowledge of Environmental Health to Degree or an equivalent level technical qualification.
  • UK Driving Licence
