We have a vacancy within our Joint Equipment Loan Service (JELS) that needs an experienced team manager to fill, someone with a commitment to lead a successful team to continue providing a high standard of service to the residents of Northumberland.
We want someone who understands the value of a well-managed team for its ultimate success, someone with commitment to support people in their roles and to improving the lives of residents of Northumberland through provision of daily living equipment to maximise their abilities.
JELS overall has 27 members of staff; 10 staff within the administration team, including an office manager and 17 staff within the warehouse including a warehouse/deputy manager.
The post holder will:
- Provide day to day management of the staff in the Joint Equipment Loan service.
- Provide advice and guidance to staff under the direction of the Operational Manager or Head of Service.
- To assist in the process of monitoring and reviewing standard operating procedures across the service.
- The role will involve providing leadership to the team, to work with other teams within the County Council and to ensure that work programmes are appropriately timetabled to promote develop and implement improvement of systems, procedures and quality audits.
- To provide expert knowledge and support to the teams in terms of information, advice and guidance to be given to service users and colleagues.
- To contribute to the management of the service areas ensuring their development and providing regular supervision and annual performance appraisal.
About the post:
The post is based at Unit 43 Colbourne Cresent, Nelson Industrial Estate, Cramlington, Northumberland NE23 1WB; as the service covers the whole of Northumberland there may be times when the post-holder needs to travel anywhere in the county.
This is a full-time permanent post
Salary starts at £40,478.00 rising to £44,539.00

We are looking for someone who has:
· Good basic education, A level or equivalent
· A relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification; or equivalent training/experience and evidence of continuing professional development plus further training and experience to post graduate diploma level equivalent
· Experience in managing and leading people, team, services successfully
· An excellent communicator, someone who can effectively communicate to a wide range of service
users, colleagues and internal and external stakeholders across a wide range of subject areas that this service area covers
· Specialist experience of quality improvement initiatives and of managing change
· Ability to use persuasion, negotiation and decision-making skills in overcoming resistance to change
· Ability to analyse and interpret statistical data and other information
· Ability to present the essential meaning of a complex combination of data
· Excellent time management and organisational skills
· Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to travel throughout the beautiful county of Northumberland as required.
