The Service

Northumberland County Council are looking for a skilled individual to assist in the ongoing delivery of our IT Service Provision, working within the Systems Support Team.

The role

This position will be working within the Systems Team and the successful candidate will require a high level of technical skill in specific areas relating to troubleshooting and maintaining software, they must be able to act on their own initiative and communicate effectively with all stakeholders including Councillors, Senior Officers, Third Party Suppliers, colleagues and Citizens.

This role is Permanent for 18.5 hours per week.

A high level of working knowledge and experience is required in-

  • Microsoft 365 platform
  • Microsoft SharePoint
  • All Microsoft Office applications, Outlook, Excel, Word etc
  • Supporting SQL and databases
  • Troubleshooting and debugging software issues 

A level of knowledge/understanding in the following would also be beneficial-

  • Management of NCC devices using MS Intune
  • Supporting users on Windows 11
  • Creating and deploying packages through SCCM and Intune
  • Web filtering Solutions, specifically NetSweeper.
  • Investigation of new products and contact within suppliers to discuss technical details
  • Knowledge of SharePoint site structure, metadata and site widgets.

Applicants should have experience within the IT sector preferably with some of that time spent in an environment allowing skills to be obtained in the above.

The job involves working with multiple stakeholders across many sites and excellent customer service and communication skills are required. The successful candidate will join an established team within authority and will have access to colleagues who can assist where necessary. This position is based in County Hall, Morpeth, but you may be required to travel regularly to other NCC office locations.
