ROLE OF THE JOB

As first line manager for all Countrywide Street Lighting Operations you will be responsible for programming, resources and all other issues relating to Highway Lighting Operations, including the 24/7 street lighting emergency response, ensuring the cost-effective delivery of street lighting and electrical works to the satisfaction of the client or customer. Ensure compliance with the Council's quality and performance standards, as well as promoting good customer relationships throughout the service, liaising with elected members, at County and Town/Parish level, other directorates of the County Council and sub-contractors in delivery of services.

You may also be required to represent the interests of the County Council at public meetings, district or parish council meetings. The Street Lighting Operations Manager will also be responsible for managing health and safety, quality and environmental systems for street lighting , to include promoting and maintaining the procedures.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB 

You should be qualified to HNC, NVQ level 5 or equivalent, and possess or be working towards a relevant professional qualification and have ASLEC Authorising Officer or Qualified Supervisor status. An in-depth knowledge of the ASLEC street lighting competency scheme is essential, as is a thorough understanding of the key Health& Safety issues relating to the electrical industry and street lighting, coupled with adequate knowledge of current Laws & Regulations, Policies, Procedures & Developments.

Experience of management and a successful track record of leading a multi-disciplined team is essential, together with operating trading accounts in a competitive environment.

Experience of multiple project management and working knowledge of the organisation of the County Council and construction and commercial practices in the private sector is essential.
