The Role
We are currently looking to recruit an experienced, committed, and knowledgeable individual to our Strategic Community Safety Team in the role of Strategic Community Safety Officer (SCSO). This key position will co-ordinate and support on the provision of strategic community safety and the development of the Safer Northumberland Community Safety Partnership (SNP), a statutory multi-agency body made from a range of agencies responsible for reducing crime and the fear of crime, community cohesion and protective measures, anti-social behaviour, serious violence, exploitation, and abuse.
Additionally, the post holder will have responsibility supporting statutory processes for Domestic Homicide Reviews (DHR’s) and the Governments counter terrorism strategy CONTEST, specifically regarding the fulfilment of the councils Prevent and Protect duties.
The Strategic Community Safety Team sits within the Directorate of Public Health, Inequalities and Stronger Communities.
This is a full time permanent, Band 9 position (£42,403 - £46,464).
Based at County Hall Morpeth, the role will require a flexible approach, with some elements of travel. Some hybrid and home working will also be possible.
Requirements of the job
To be successful, you will need to have;
- Extensive experience within a community safety setting.
- You will be experienced in the collation and analysis of management information and quality assuring practice against standards, objectives, and targets with significant high-level partnership and leadership experience working with executive and senior officers from agencies and elected representatives.
- You will have experience of managing complex projects, delivering to objectives and performance targets, high level report writing and presentation skills and experience of strategy and policy development.
- A demonstrable track record of delivering outcomes that require collaborative approaches both within the organisation and with external partners is essential for the role.
- Extensive relevant role related knowledge, skills and experience and similar level understanding of legislation, guidance, statutory duties and professional practice across community safety and impact on the role, responsibilities and range of services provided by SNP partner agencies.
- You will be able to demonstrate considerable knowledge and understanding of the community safety national agenda and what constitutes best practice with high level understanding and awareness of the social and political context in which the SNP operates.
