The Disabled Children Team in Northumberland are seeking to recruit one full time Social Worker to join our team. The Disabled Children Team supports children and young people across Northumberland for those in need of statutory support and intervention.
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out a range of statutory assessments for disabled children and their families, which will include assessments for Child in Need and Child Protection cases, as well as undertaking direct work with children and their families. This role will also include the completion of Carers Assessments where appropriate. The successful applicant will be passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people with a range of complex needs and their families.
This role will also involve supporting young people from the age of 14 and their families with preparing for adulthood and will involve working jointly with Adult Social Care. This role will entail gathering information about young people's future wishes and aspirations and progressing referrals to the transition panel, as well as completing mental capacity assessments and DoLS applications.
You must hold a relevant social worker qualification, be registered with Social Work England and have completed your ASYE. This position involves managing cases across the county.

Whilst we welcome applicants with a range of experience it would be desirable to have experience of working with either children or adults with disabilities and safeguarding.
We would welcome applications from newly qualified or newly qualifying social workers and will support you through your Assisted and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) during your first year with us
