We have just embarked on a change journey through 'BEST' which will support the council to deliver its three priorities of economic growth, tackling inequalities and delivering value for money. BEST focuses on a number of transformational changes that will deliver improvements for customers and staff, whilst making the council more modern, effective, efficient and fit for purpose, and we’re looking for a proactive and engaging person to help us drive it forward.
As part of the Procurement team, you’ll be responsible for the implementation of the Council’s Procurement Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Policy, providing professional advice and guidance to commissioners to deliver wider financial and non-financial outcomes, including improving wellbeing of individuals and communities, compliance with internal policies and procedures, Best Value and best practice. You’ll be required to provide guidance on all Social Value procurement related issues, including:
· Supporting commissioning and procurement activities to drive and deliver a more sustainable and consistent approach to the commissioning and procurement of goods, works and services across all Services.
· Working closely with Procurement Business Partners and other senior managers and commissioners to increase the social value within the Council’s procurement and commissioning decisions.
· Providing expertise and supporting dissemination of social value training across the Council.
· Driving and managing the increased integration and long-term forward planning of the Social Value strategy in commissioning and procurement across the organisation.
This role is offered on a Fixed Term contract until 2026, based in County Hall, Morpeth. The Council supports flexible working.
Requirements of the role
. Educated to degree level, or equivalent relevant professional qualification.
· Demonstrable advanced technical knowledge and extensive experience of social value investment models, measurement and innovation.
· Comprehensive working knowledge and understanding of relevant public sector regulations and professional best practice and other matters facing local government, both at present and in the future.
· Experience in supporting organisations to capture, measure and report social impact.
