Senior Regeneration Investment External Funding Officer
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in Northumberland to support the Council's economic and regeneration programmes. We are now seeking to appoint a dynamic Senior Regeneration Investment External Funding Officer, working within the Regeneration Programmes Investment Team.
The role will provide professional advice and technical support in the development and appraisal of the Economic Development and Growth Service’s project business cases being taken forward by the Council and external organisations. You will contribute to the external funding advice function within a Team whose main responsibility is to secure and maximise effective use of investment and external funding to facilitate delivery of the Council’s regeneration pipeline of programmes and projects.

As a Senior Officer you will play a leading role in supporting the development of major funded programmes across the county, requiring you to:
· Provide professional and technical support in the development and appraisal of Treasury Compliant Green Book Business cases and other funding applications to secure external resources.
· Support good management of the critical relationships between programme and project development, delivery and performance and the governance and assurance functions.
· Horizon scan external funding opportunities and advise services on funding opportunities available.
· Research funding programmes and work with project teams/services to identify potential funding sources that could be aligned to corporate priorities/projects, including identifying and prioritising funding opportunities.
· Provide professional advice to senior managers and project leads on appropriate funding sources, preparing services to position the Council as near to ‘bid ready’ as possible for anticipated external funding opportunities.
· Gather relevant information from Council departments, external partners and other sources, to support funding bids.
· Act as critical friend and reviewer of bids written by service specialists.
· You will require the ability to work with a degree of autonomy and initiative and will have experience in preparation of business cases and appraisal of funding applications.

We are seeking a regeneration professional who is enthusiastic and driven with experience in the development of regeneration projects from initiation through to successful completion. This will include supporting programme, project and business case development, contracting and appraisal management, procurement, legal and financial/funding compliance.

The job is based in County Hall in Morpeth, but we operate flexible working arrangements, including some home working.
This is a full-time position and is fixed term to 31st March 2026. The successful candidate will be offered a starting salary of £37,336 going up to £41,418 (Band 8)

Requirements Of The Job
· Experience in the development of regeneration projects from initiation through to successful completion.
· Experience in supporting programme, project and business case development and delivery, contracting and appraisal management, procurement, legal and financial/funding compliance.
· Experience in working with external funding.
· Ability to organise work and identify priorities to meet challenging deadlines.
