The Role
Northumberland County Council Planning Service is looking to recruit a permanent Senior Planning Officer  who is committed to delivering an efficient, effective and customer focused Planning Service. The Development Management Team receives circa 6,000 planning applications per year and therefore operates at a fast pace. We are looking to appoint the right person with the drive and ambition to add experience and expertise to a very focused Development Management Team output.
A vacancy has arisen for a Senior Planning Officer within the Development Management Service. You will be responsible for a personal caseload comprising a high proportion of major and other planning applications received from across the County. This is a unique and exciting, yet challenging role, that would suit anyone with the requisite requirements.
 
Requirements of the role
If you have a sound working knowledge of the development management process along with a positive attitude and a wish to seek and deliver solutions, then we would like to hear from you.
 We require;
  • An enthusiastic, committed and highly motivated individual.
  • You should be able to work under your own initiative and also effectively in partnership with Planning colleagues, Developers, Agents, Elected Members, Parish Councils and other stakeholders in order to support the Planning Service.
  • Presenting reports on behalf of the Service to the Planning Committee, assess and sign off officer reports, assist and mentor officers and technicians and provide advice and guidance where required.
  • Hold a current and valid UK driving license to be able to meet the requirements of the role which will include external and site meetings. 
  • Preferably have at least 3 years’ requisite Planning experience 
  • Excellent analytical and negotiation skills
  • Excellent understanding of administration needs in a customer service environment.
  • Working knowledge of repairs processes, procedures, and policies within a Housing environment.
You will need to prove your right to work in the UK to NCC before you start working for us.
