ROLE OF THE JOB
The Northumberland Public Health Services include Stop Smoking and Health Trainer teams. We currently have 35 staff including Stop Smoking Specialists, Advisors, Health Improvement Specialists Senior Health Trainers and Health Trainers who are responsible for delivery services that influence the improvement of our resident's health and wellbeing.
We are seeking to recruit 2 Senior Health Trainers to supervise the day to day running of the Northumberland Health Trainer Service.
Each Senior Health Trainer will work across the Health Trainer Service but will be expected to work within projects fields which may include Starting Well, Living Well, Ageing Well and NHS Health Checks.
The project fields for this post are Living Well and Ageing Well.
The successful post holder will have
· NVQ level 4 or equivalent qualification or significant experience within a health and wellbeing type service.
· Experience of working as a health trainer or in a similar public health role.
· It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has a valid driving licence and use of a car for work purposes.
· Support community based public health service delivery by providing day to day operational support that includes clinics, teaching sessions and community events.
· Contribute to improving health and reducing morbidity associated with lifestyle, by supporting people to develop healthier behaviours around stopping smoking and ensuring that delivery of the service is to agreed quality standards.
· Supports the facilitation of Public Health education workshops around specialism for example, children and young people, public health campaigns, NHS Health Checks, stop smoking service and ageing well.
· The senior health trainer role is multi-skilled and will involve working across a variety of disciplines within health and social care.
· Support the service in community and acute setting to ensure successful delivery of the stop smoking clinics.
· The Health Trainer Service works from a central base and travel to outreach clinic settings throughout the County that are NCC and non NCC organisations, such as GP surgeries, pharmacies and community hubs.
· Responsible for safe use of equipment used by clients
· Collect and input client information onto SystmOne and understand data that shows where changes have been made to clients and their lifestyles.
· Works with members of the community, various organisations and health professionals.
