About the Role

As a NEAT Team Operative/Driver, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining clean, safe, and attractive streets, open spaces, and public facilities in our communities. This is a hands-on, outdoor role that requires physical fitness, teamwork, and a positive, can-do attitude.

 

Key Details:

  • Start Time: Varies by assignment
  • Working Days: Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend or emergency shifts
  • Pay Rate:

- Drivers Licence - £12.84 per hour 

- None Driver - £12.45 per hour

  • Locations: Opportunities may arise countywide, including Hexham, Blyth, Morpeth, Alnwick, Stakeford, and Berwick

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Carry out street cleansing, grounds maintenance, and public convenience cleaning tasks.
  • Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles safely and responsibly.
  • Work both independently and as part of a team to meet service standards.
  • Assist with risk assessments and follow safety protocols at all times.
  • Communicate courteously with members of the public and colleagues.
  • Report issues, faults, or hazards to your Team Leader.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Full UK Driving Licence (Category B)
  • Experience in grounds maintenance, cleansing, or similar outdoor work is desirable.
  • Ability to understand and follow basic instructions and safety guidance.
  • Physical fitness – able to walk, lift, and perform manual tasks in all weather conditions.
  • A reliable and flexible approach to work.
  • A commitment to public service, teamwork, and health & safety standards.
