An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Schools Organisation and Resources Team for the post of School Place Planning and Commissioning Assistant. 
This post is required in order to support the Council to fulfil its statutory duties in relation to the The Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014 and the SEN Code of Practice 2015.   Working with the SEND Commissioning and Place Planning Officer, the post holder will have a key role in delivering effective and efficient Special Educational Needs place commissioning processes for the Council.   
The post holder would also work with the School Organisation and Resources Assistant to support production of reliable and timely pupil data for effective pupil place forecasting and school place planning.  This would include training on and use of the Council's GIS digital Mapping system. 

The post holder will have a minimum of 5 GCSs at level 4 or above including English and Maths or equivalent e.g. NVQ2.   
The successful post holder will have considerable work experience in a similar role covering a broad range of support tasks and procedures including working in a data sensitive environment. 
Knowledge of recent educational legislation and policy and the capacity to develop a more detailed understanding of relevant Legislation to this role is desirable.  Experience of working with databases and the management of information systems and skills in Microsoft software (e.g. Excel, Access, Powerpoint and Word) are essential. 
We are looking for a team player who can communicate effectively in writing and on the telephone with colleagues, schools and wider partners. The ability to exercise judgement in relation to confidential information is key, as is the ability to work independently in setting timescales and prioritising workloads.  This is a busy job where the ability to work under pressure and maintain a high level of attention to detail is required.  
The post holder will be able to quickly and accurately manipulate numerical data using all arithmetic functions, follow instructions and procedures and work without constant supervision.

Please note that this is currently a fixed-term position to September 2025 but applications on a secondment  would be considered for the right applicant.
