Retrofit Assessor

We are looking for someone to join our award-winning Warmer Homes Team within the Climate change department who is passionate about customer care and interested in helping to make Northumberland’s resident’s homes warmer and more energy efficient. This role will suit someone from a housing, advice, technical or construction background.
The retrofit assessor will carry out dwelling assessment surveys on domestic properties, on private and social housing tenures, to determine which energy efficiency measures and low carbon heating would be most suitable for a particular dwelling in accordance with the industry standard PAS2035:2023
This position is based at County Hall, Morpeth but it will require the ability to travel across Northumberland to visit homes to carry out the retrofit assessment surveys. 

This vacancy is offered on a Fixed Term basis until 31/03/2028.

ROLE OF THE JOB
  •  Carry out whole-dwelling surveys within Northumberland, to establish the most appropriate energy efficiency measures for that particular home. These surveys are known as retrofit assessments and are carried out in accordance with the standard called PAS2035:2023.   
  • As part of the survey the role will identify the location and severity of any existing construction or structural defects, leaks, condensation and/or mould growth in the dwelling, review existing ventilation, site constraints, air permeability and complete an occupancy appraisal.
  • The survey determines the energy efficiency ratings for the dwelling (known as RDSAP or SAP ratings) and will establish the required dimensions of the dwelling, identification of existing building services and a detailed appraisal of the dwellings construction along with estimated annual fuel use, fuel costs and carbon dioxide emissions. Photographs and defects are recorded. 
  • The role also includes carrying out ‘snagging’ visits and dealing with complaints.
  • Good standard of customer care, the ability to work on own initiative, ability to drive across Northumberland and good team player are essential requirements.
REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB
Full training will be given but the following qualifications will need to be gained within 3 months of being appointed as these are essential for the role:
  • Hold, or working towards a Level 3 Diploma in Domestic Energy Assessment within 3 months of appointment; Hold or gain level 4 award in Domestic retrofit assessment within 3 months of appointment (NCC will provide training required to achieve relevant qualification)
  • Willingness to undertake health and safety training such as asbestos awareness, ladder safety etc
  • Valid UK driving licence
