Please note: Successful applicants must be available for interview week commencing 14th July. These posts will commence in September 2025. 

 

This apprenticeship will last for a duration of 54 months. The training is delivered by Ignite Training and you will be required to attend training at North Shields, NE29 8SG. 

 

What the candidate will be doing on a day-to-day basis 

A day on the tools as a plumber varies, you could be changing taps on a basin one minute and then a leak through a ceiling could be your next emergency job. Plumbers are responsible for all wet work in our homes across the county. Work can include fixing toilets to renewing them. Cleaning and fitting new gutters, new showers, baths and wash hand basins. No day is the same when you are working on plumbing as each day you deal with emergency repairs.


Background on department 

The R&M department are responsible for the repairs withing approximately 8,600 homes across Northumberland. The work carried out by the department includes, plumbing, gas, electrical, carpentry, bricklaying and plastering. 

 

Type of person we are looking for 

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is eager to learn and expand their knowledge and skills through hands-on experience.  

 

Likes to work as part of a team, on a variety of tasks with short deadlines. To be able to work on their own where relevant. 

 

Location 

We have a depot at Cowley Road in Blyth 

 

Salary 

National Apprenticeship Framework  

 

Contract Type 

Fixed Term for duration of apprenticeship training, plus 6 months for End Point Assessment.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB  

  • Maths and English GCSE (or Equivalent) at Grade 4/C or above
  • Familiar with IT systems, eg. Word, Excel, PowerPoint. 
  • Works well as part of a team
