Role of the Job
Kyloe House is part of Northumberland County Council’s network of residential homes for young people, providing care and support in a safe, nurturing environment. In this role, you will be part of a team responsible for maintaining high-quality, homely surroundings across Kyloe House and, where required, other open residential homes within Northumberland.
The role will primarily involve painting and decorating; however, we are looking for someone who can bring a multi-skilled approach to maintenance tasks. This will include minor repairs such as patching, basic tiling, joinery, and simple plumbing work to ensure our homes remain safe, welcoming, and well-maintained.
You will be working in occupied residential care settings, often in the presence of young people and staff, so professionalism, respect, and sensitivity are essential. The ability to work flexibly across multiple homes while maintaining consistency in standards is key.

Requirements of the Job
  • Level 2–3 qualification in painting, decorating, tiling or equivalent experience
  • Ability to use handheld IT equipment to receive and complete work tasks
  • Ability to work safely at height using ladders and appropriate equipment
  • Flexible approach to working across Kyloe House and other open residential homes in Northumberland
  • Ability to maintain a clean, safe, and tidy working environment at all times
  • Good understanding of health and safety, including COSHH responsibilities
  • Strong communication skills and an approachable, professional manner
  • Full UK driving licence

This is a permanent position primarily based at Kyloe House, with the expectation of working across other open residential homes within Northumberland as required to support service needs.
