Local Authority Research Practitioner

ROLE OF THE JOB

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with strong personal qualities around adaptability, team work, emotional intelligence and a growth mindset and proven experience in conducting and upskilling in relation to research and evaluation to advance a research and evidence-based culture within the public health team and the wider council.
  
Based within the Public Health team at County Hall,  Morpeth for a 24 month fixed term basis, we are looking for someone to engage, influence and negotiate with research partners, supporting capacity building and ensuring integration of research into policy and service delivery at Northumberland County Council. You will work with internal and external partners, ultimately working to improve health and reduce health inequalities across Northumberland. 

With a research degree (graduate level or equivalent) and equivalent experience of conducting research (in public health, social sciences or the wider determinants of health), your role will include designing and managing research initiatives, building partnerships with academia and health institutions and promoting best practice across the council and partners to strengthen the council’s research capability and governance.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB

  • a research degree (graduate level or equivalent) or equivalent experience of conducting research (in public health, social sciences or the wider determinants of health
  • valid UK driving licence
