We are looking for a full time (job share or part time will be considered) Contracts and Procurement Lawyer to join our dynamic, busy and friendly legal team.

ROLE OF THE JOB

Your main responsibilities will include advising on public procurement law, drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts including public sector agreements, and advising on contractual disputes. 

You would also ideally be able to provide advice with regard to linked property matters and / or subsidy control.

The successful candidate will bring existing knowledge in the areas of Contracts and Procurement and / or an enthusiasm to learn and develop in this area, to advise in-house clients and colleagues. You will need an eye for detail and good organisational skills, which will enable you to carry your own workload. Flexible and innovative in your approach, you will help us to positively develop new areas of practice.

The post has a starting salary of between £48,710 - £52,805 subject to a minimum of 2 years PQE (band 10); for applicants with less than 2 years PQE the post would be offered at Band 8 (£37,336 - £41,418) moving to band 10 upon attaining two years PQE and successful completion of the six-month probation period.       

The working arrangements are flexible, with office based working in County Hall, Morpeth and the opportunity to work on a hybrid office / home basis. 

REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB

  • Qualified Solicitor or Barrister or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives holding a current practicing certificate. 
  • Existing knowledge of contracts and procurement law preferred.
