Lawyer (Childrens Social Care)

Job Information

We are looking for a full-time Children’s Social Care Lawyer to join our dynamic, busy and friendly team.

Your main responsibilities will include:

·                Advising in-house clients and colleagues on a range of child protection matters including the Public Law Outline, care proceedings and all other issues relating to the care of children and young persons.

·                Drafting applications and orders.

·                Attending and representing the Council at court.

·                Liaising with third parties including private practice law firms, counsel and other external bodies. 

·                Managing a full and varied caseload

You should have an existing knowledge in this area of law and/ or an enthusiasm to learn and develop in this area. You will need an eye for detail and good organizational skills which will enable you to carry your own caseload. You should be flexible and innovative in your approach.

The post has a starting salary of between, for those who are less than 2 years PQE, Band 8 - £38,626 - £42,708; OR Band 10 - £48,710 - £52,805, for those with more than two years PQE. Individuals appointed to band 8 will transition to band 10 upon attaining two years PQE and successful completion of the six-month probation period

The working arrangements are flexible, with office-based working in County Hall, Morpeth and the opportunity to work on a hybrid office/ home basis

 

REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB

·                Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives holding a current practicing certificate

·                Existing knowledge of Child Care law preferred.
