 About the Job:

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our busy team, at the Joint Equipment Loan Services (JELS) in Northumberland. 

The main purpose of the role is to ensure the efficient and effective management of rehabilitation equipment within the Joint Equipment Loan Service (JELS) in the community. This involves tasks such as receiving, decontaminating, maintaining, and issuing rehabilitation equipment, as well as transporting goods to and from clients' homes, residential homes, and hospitals as needed. Additionally, the role includes servicing and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment, ensuring adherence to health and safety and infection control policies, and undergoing appropriate training to maintain and service equipment effectively.


Job Duties:

  • Receive, decontaminate, maintain, and issue rehabilitation equipment efficiently.
  • Transport goods to and from clients' homes, residential homes, and hospitals as needed.
  • Service and repair electrical and mechanical equipment following manufacturer manuals and regulations.
  • Perform electrical safety testing on equipment according to PAT regulations and maintain accurate records.
  • Follow procedures for dismantling, delivering, and installing bulky equipment.
  • Ensure adherence to Health & Safety and Infection Control policies.
  • Undertake necessary training for servicing and maintenance of equipment.
  • Provide routine information, liaising internally and externally.
  • Diagnose faults with equipment and find solutions.
  • Plan and manage day-to-day workload efficiently.
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels of spare parts and consumables.
  • Conduct audits and maintain service records for equipment.
  • Follow trust policies and guidelines, proposing changes if necessary.
  • Assist in the induction of new starters and provide training.
  • Regularly provide training in own discipline and share knowledge and skills.
  • Input stock control data into manual and computer systems.
  • Work within maintenance procedures and regulatory requirements.

Experience/Skills Needed:

  • Physical capability for lifting, moving, and handling equipment.
  • Proficient use of small hand and powered tools.
  • Experience driving delivery vans and pedestrian electric forklift trucks.
  • Ability to interpret manuals for assembly and operation of complex equipment.
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to analyse economic viability of equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work sensitively with vulnerable individuals and maintain confidentiality.
  • Understanding of patient/client care responsibilities and safety regulations.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and in varied conditions.
  • Willingness to work in distressing circumstances and potentially challenging home environments.
  • Must have a valid, clean driving licence.
