The Service
We are a passionate and growing recruitment team found within the HR/OD service here at Northumberland County Council (NCC), dealing with all aspects of the recruitment process from advertising, shortlisting, and interviewing, to hiring exciting new and existing members of the NCC family. This role adds to the long-term ambition of the recruitment vision we have in the team.
The Role
We are looking for an ambitious individual with a key passion for recruitment, this role will allow you to make a positive impact on the recruitment process and to build our reputation as a top employer. We are focused on improving the inclusivity of NCC as a whole organisation, and we believe this starts here in our recruitment team.
This is a 12 month fixed term or secondment position.
What does a typical day look like?
- Collaboration with hiring managers to understand their staffing needs and develop effective recruitment strategies to attract qualified candidates
- Utilising various channels, including job boards, social media, and networking, to identify potential candidates
- Ensuring a positive candidate experience throughout the recruitment process, keeping candidates informed and engaged
- Contributing to our employer branding efforts, promoting our company culture and values to attract top talent
- Represent the company at career fairs and networking events to actively engage with potential candidates and promote the organisation as an employer of choice
- Collaborate with the HR team to facilitate smooth onboarding for new hires, ensuring a seamless transition into the organisation
- Develop and maintain a talent pipeline for critical roles, proactively building relationships with potential candidates
Who are we looking for? Someone with:
- Proven experience in recruitment or talent acquisition
- Strong knowledge of recruitment best practices and sourcing techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with candidates and internal stakeholders
- A results-oriented mindset with the ability to meet recruitment targets and deadlines
- Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS)
- Good IT skills and ideally familiarity with Microsoft 365
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
