IT System Support Architect
Permanent | 37 hours per week
We are seeking an experienced IT System Support Architect to play a key strategic role in shaping and safeguarding our organisation’s digital, data and technology landscape.
This is a senior technical role, offering the opportunity to influence how enterprise-wide systems, platforms, applications and services are designed, delivered and evolved to meet organisational priorities, national standards and user needs.
You will be a key individual in managing the technical estate, and work with leaders accross the organisation to maximise opportunities in modernisation, rationalisation and customer led digital products.
About the role
Working closely with senior leaders and delivery teams, you will set the architectural direction across all DDAT domains. You will ensure technology solutions are secure, resilient, scalable and future-ready, providing expert assurance and guidance on major programmes and complex technical decisions.
You will act as a bridge between strategy and delivery – translating organisational vision into coherent and measurable enterprise architectures that support transformation and innovation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Defining and maintaining enterprise architecture strategies, standards and governance
- Providing expert architectural advice to senior leaders and technical teams
- Developing technology roadmaps and assessing emerging technologies
- Overseeing architecture and solution design for major programmes
- Shaping enterprise data and integration architecture to support interoperable, data-driven services
- Maintaining clear architectural documentation and driving continuous improvement
- Managing architecture development budgets and supporting programmes up to £1m
About you
You will bring significant experience of operating in complex, multi-system environments and have a strong background in enterprise architecture and technical assurance.
You will have:
- A degree-level (Level 6) qualification in a cyber security or relevant technical discipline, or equivalent senior professional experience
- Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks and governance (e.g. TOGAF)
- Experience leading or assuring large-scale, enterprise-wide technology solutions
- Knowledge of national standards such as the Technology Code of Practice and GDS Service Standards
- Experience with modern digital platforms, cloud technologies, integration patterns and automation
