Home Adaptations Surveyor
Do you want to work in the beautiful county of Northumberland supporting residents who have a disability to achieve adaptations to their home that will improve their overall health and wellbeing?
If you do Northumberland County Councils Home Improvement Service (HIS) have just the job for you, as we are looking for a full time Housing Adaptations Surveyor!
We want someone who can -
- Advise and assist disabled residents and their families on undertaking adaptations to their homes with specific responsibility for giving technical support on what is possible within building regulations and the individual home environment.
- Develop plans and schedules of work for agreed adaptations, be responsible for the management of projects, ensuring the safety of contractors and residents while adaptation works are underway.
- Provide professional and technical support on all related building and adaptations issues to all involved with residents
The post is within Northumberland Home Improvement Service, which is a small but very successful team, who achieve high standards in providing adaptations for the residents of Northumberland. The team work closely with the residents themselves, their families and the professionals involved, including the contractors, to ensure that those referred to the service receive the adaptations that they are assessed as needing.
The post holder will be based at Foundry House, The Oval, Bedlington, Northumberland however they will work with residents throughout Northumberland working agile as required for the post. The post is permanent and full time (37 hours). The Salary for this post is Northumberland County Council Band 7 £31,099 to £34,723.

- Qualifications to be a minimum HNC in a Building Related Discipline
- A sound knowledge of current planning and building legislation, construction industry guidelines including gas and electric installers codes of practice
- To have Knowledge of the Disabled Facilities Grant and understand legislation and policy relating to Decent Homes and adaptations
- The post holder also needs to be competent in using a variety of Information Technology applications, including AutoCad, to support the preparation of adaptation plans.
- The post covers the whole of Northumberland and holding a valid UK driving licence and having access to a car is essential.
