Housing Compliance & Assurance Manager

Job Information

We’re looking for a highly capable and forward-thinking Housing Compliance & Assurance Manager to play a critical role in ensuring Northumberland County Council meets its regulatory responsibilities as a social housing provider. 

This is a key leadership post within Housing Services, created to strengthen our compliance framework following recent regulatory findings. You will oversee the team, monitoring and continuous improvement of all housing-related compliance areas, ensuring we keep our residents safe and our services legally compliant.


What you will be doing:

  • Leading the council’s approach to housing compliance across key safety areas
  • Leading the Councils approach to Tenant Engagement and co-regulation
  • Developing and maintaining robust compliance frameworks, policies, systems and reporting mechanisms.
  • Managing audit actions and driving improvements in service quality, resident safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinating with internal teams to ensure timely completion of statutory checks and remedial works 

Requirements of the role:

  • Significant experiencein housing compliance, property safety, or regulation within a social housing context.
  • Strong understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements for registered providers of social housing.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage compliance monitoring systems and produce highquality assurance reports.
  • Relevant professional qualification and/or membership in a housing, safety, or compliance discipline (or equivalent experience).
