Health Improvement Specialist Practitioner (Healthy Neighbourhoods)

ROLE OF THE JOB 

We require an experienced Health Improvement Specialist Practitioner (Healthy Neighbourhoods) to work in the Public Health team (Building Blocks and Health in all Policies portfolio). The team focuses on addressing the wider determinants of health to improve health outcomes and reduce inequalities in Northumberland.  


As a part of the Building Blocks team, you will be responsible for leading the approach to engaging communities about their place and employing a variety of healthy neighbourhood approaches to improving our residents’ health. You will work collaboratively with colleagues within the Public Health, Stronger Communities, Data Intelligence, Place and Regeneration Team, and with other stakeholders involved in neighbourhood design.  


This is an exciting opportunity to join a friendly and supportive team, working in a large and diverse county with both urban and rural places, bringing community voice to the development of healthy neighbourhoods.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB 

  • Knowledge of healthy neighbourhood public health initiatives, acquired through a relevant degree or equivalent recognised pathway
  • Experience of working in public health project or programme delivery 
  • Experience of involving local communities in identifying their own assets and needs.
  • Ability to analyse available health data and evidence for public health initiatives and programmes
  • Ability to identify and assesses alternative approaches to health improvement and the resources required
  • Ability to deliver training and programmes to build capacity in health improvement
