This is an exciting opportunity to provide leadership and drive in the Economic Development and Growth Directorate, which is leading the way in delivering a significant regeneration programme, driving new and innovative inclusive growth activities across Northumberland and playing an integral role in the devolution agenda and the development of the new Mayoral Combined Authority for the North East.
Northumberland is an ambitious County and there is a lot happening!  The County Council has clear plans to tackle inequality, deliver value for money for our residents and businesses and support economic growth.   With a key role in realising these ambitions a priority for the Directorate and this role is the development and delivery of Northumberland’s Economic Strategy; commissioning services which will deliver the Council’s ambition for the economic development and growth, playing a key role in creating new opportunities and making the County a place where people want to live, work, and visit.  The postholder will play a role in the development of the Mayoral Combined Authority and regional devolution arrangements, the commissioning of activities to support businesses and people, to advance inclusive economic growth and realise the potential of key sectors, including the visitor economy, as well as support rural growth and lead the development of the cultural investment programme for the Council.  This role will take a lead, working to the Director of Economic Development & Growth to manage this considerable portfolio and contribute to the   overall leadership of the Economic Development and Growth Directorate.
