Our ambition is to design, develop and deliver accessible, user-centred services and products that empower and delight our users.

Our 3 corporate priorities are:

We will ensure we pass on a healthy, clean, and sustainable environment to future generations.

Each of our three priorities has a part to play in responding to the Climate Change Emergency.

Achieving our ambition will demand a focus on people, culture, governance as well as digital, data and technology.

It’s a great time to join Northumberland County Council, as we embark on an exciting and bold transformation journey, to do the best for our residents, customers, our staff and the county.

About the role

You’ll provide strategic and operational leadership to develop and evolve the county council’s approach to Digital.

Putting the user at the heart of everything we do, you’ll make sure that we use digital in a way that is inclusive, building skills and confidence, so that it is the channel of choice for those that can and wish to interact and transact with us digitally.

You’ll help build a digital team that is skilled in user-centred design and digital delivery of accessible services.

Working closely with the Head of Technology, Head of Data and the Director of Digital and IT, you’ll help build and lead a team of digital professionals as well as being an influential member of the Digital & IT leadership team.

You’ll also champion digital skills and capability development across the organisation and help to build and sustain our digital community of practice.

You enjoy working in the open, sharing the work we’re doing to transform our services.

Also, you will enjoy working collaboratively outside of our organisation, helping to build strategic partnerships and to live by the principles in the Local Digital Declaration.

You’re someone who cares deeply about building great teams and who wants to see others succeed.

This opportunity is not just about taking on a brand-new role or working with a great team, it is about wanting to make a real difference for the people who live, visit and work in the county.
